When it comes to bed linen, Egyptian cotton rightly represents prestige and luxury. If you're looking for premium quality sheets made from a cotton reputed to be the best in the world, Egypt is the place to look.

Why choose an Egyptian cotton sheet?

There are around fifty species of cotton plant. The one we're interested in here is called Gossypium Barbadense. It is from this species that the most upmarket varieties of cotton are made, including Egyptian cotton. Egyptian cotton is considered to be the most prestigious fabric available on the market. It owes its unique quality to the length and fineness of its fibres, which give it breathable properties and exceptional softness. Synonymous with top-of-the-range bed linen, an Egyptian cotton sheet adds a refined atmosphere to the bedroom, with a touch of elegance and subtlety that's wonderfully luxurious. At Cotton & Co, we know it ticks all the boxes for exceptional quality.

In fact, the length of its fibres makes it extremely strong. But what would strength be without softness? Egyptian cotton combines both. We can assure you that these are not its only two qualities. It's highly breathable, so you won't get too hot, but it's still absorbent. It remains smooth and very silky. When you choose a cotton flat sheet, you can be sure of a good night's sleep. With a plain Cotton & Co flat sheet, your bed will have a luxurious and delicate touch. Your bedroom will be a place of rare refinement.

Premium quality

Egyptian cotton may be the most renowned in the world, but there are other factors that go into making a cotton sheet of superior quality. The type of cotton alone is not enough to guarantee the best. The number of threads in the weave is a crucial factor. It is estimated that the top of the range is reached from 120 threads per cm2 of fabric. In the world of Egyptian cotton sheets, you'll find cotton percale with a tight weave and a high thread count. We often speak of top-quality bed linen from 120 threads and up to 250 threads per square centimetre. The feel of the fabric is as soft as it is refined, and promises a restful night's sleep. As for cotton satin, this is an exceptionally silky bed linen for a delicate touch and a feeling of well-being and incomparable comfort! Opting for a Cotton & Co flat sheet means you can be sure that the cotton is of exceptional quality and that the weave is also exceptional. But that's not all: all our sheets are Oeko-Tex certified. So they contain no substances that are harmful to people or the environment.

Absolutely easy care

Among its many advantages, Egyptian cotton is also particularly easy to care for, and simple to iron. It can be machine-washed at 40°C, then dried, preferably on a line. Of course, you can also choose to tumble dry. In that case, use moderate heat and remove it a little before the end of the programme to avoid creasing. To top it all off, your Egyptian cotton sheet will become softer with each wash.

Percale or cotton satin?

Cotton satin or cotton percale, what quality should you choose? Percale is characterised by a regular weave: one thread underneath, then one thread above. It must be tightly woven, using only the longest fibres to ensure its quality. Visually, percale is matt. It is particularly suitable for people who tend to feel hot at night. For cotton satin, there is only one thread running underneath and several threads running over the top. This gives the fabric a shiny appearance on the underside and a matt finish on the underneath. Satin is warmer and even silkier than percale. It's recommended for those who like to keep out the cold, as it retains heat well. What's more, it's reputed not to mark the skin or crease the hair. So you can wake up feeling absolutely soft.
